CT-guided biopsy for musculoskeletal lesions.

چکیده
The study of musculoskeletal tumors greatly improved with the use of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These studies offer excellent imaging of a lesion’s anatomical extension and a clear identification of its active part after contrast administration. However, modern imaging is essentially morphologic; its low specificity only allows for etiological diagnosis in a few patients.1,2 Therefore, biopsy should remain the last step of staging for definite diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with musculoskeletal tumors.

Abstract Background Computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsy of the lung is a well-established method of diagnosis. The aim of this study was to determine the success rate of fluoroscopic CT (FCT) and conventional CT (CCT) in needle navigation biopsies from the lung lesions. Materials and Methods A total of 78 patients were prospectively enrolled to receive CT-guided biopsy with (group I, n=2...
متن کاملConcordance Rate between Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy and Core Needle Biopsy in Breast Lesions
Background and Objectives:Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is one of the methods of breast biopsy which is fast, easy and cost effective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the concordance rate between pathologic results of sonography or stereotaxy guided FNAB and guided core needle biopsy (CNB) in the evaluation of breast le...

متن کاملImage-guided procedures in brain biopsy.
Image-guided procedures, such as computed tomography (CT)-guided stereotactic and ultrasound-guided methods, can assist neurosurgeons in localizing the relevant pathology. The characteristics of image-guided procedures are important for their appropriate use, especially in brain biopsy. This study reviewed the results of various image-guided brain biopsies to ascertain the advantages and disadv...

Fine needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB) and core needle biopsy(CNBx) have proved to be accurate and cost-effective techniques for diagnosis of inflammatory and neoplastic lesions at different body sites. However, their applicability in bone and soft tissue pathology is still controversial. In this study, our experience with FNAB and CNBx of musculoskeletal lesions was prospectively investigat...
